What's the parse for this?

Boot was a fictional journalist, in an Evelyn Waugh novel and add H, horse.

'Scoop' was the title of the novel, the Daily Beast was the newspaper featured in it.

it has one of my favourite quotes, malone. boot was a nature writer, and one of his deathless sentences was
"feather-footed through the plashy fen passes the questing vole."

Hi Chris, is the book any good?

I'm not sure I would recommend it, brendan, but it's quite a good story of a fish-out-of-water succeeding, mainly by way of old school tie!

It's the funniest of Waugh's that I've read - some of the others are very dark.

Whetstone, glad I could help. I thought I'd seen H, horse before, but it's not listed in Chambers! (Maybe it used to be, the literary aspect makes me think this is an old puzzle?)

H and horse are both slang terms for heroin.
