Greetings from a first time poster but long time lurker, and many thanks for all the help and entertainment I've had from this forum when tackling Guardian (and Everyman) puzzles.

I know we don't normally get a thread on the midweek crosswords, but I thought there ought to be a comment on the beautiful symmetry between today's 19d 'The Chinese ready to eat domestic animal somewhere in Mexico (7)' and one of Saturday's Y clues 'Ready for the Chinese peninsula, when the mice will play (4)

Well spotted Luko, I thought today’s clue felt strangely familiar. And welcome to the forum!

Welcome luko
One of the reasons why midweek Guardian puzzles don't usually have a thread is that they are discussed, with answers and parsings, on fifteensquared.

Thanks for the greetings.
I use fifteensquared too, but prefer hints to being told the answers!
