7 across- "Cry from push to inner ring" (5)..... - H - U -.

The answer is obviously SHOUT but what is the reasoning behind this one - clearly the letters of "shout" are there in "push to" but why?

As always - thanks in advance!

Ping = ring, noise, peal etc. ' Ush to' , shout, is inside the Ping, is the inner part?

Thanks for the rapid response and I sort of see where you're coming from - but, as the late T.W. would say "Is it me"?

Thanks mattrom - as I've said so many times in the past "D'oh"!

I had twigged the inner ring would be the "o" but just didn't link the "push to" together for the "shut".

Also thanks to malone, but I think I'd lose more sleep decyphering your solution than I did on the clue.

Fun though - eh!

Chopper Erk, glad you got an answer - not mine! - that works.

Mattrom's parsing seems perfect. I was just playing around with the letters and words in the clue. There was a major error on my part -
I read the clue as coming from RTE, and that often has rather strange, sometimes unfathomable clues!
