Q. Someone respectable who's got stoned.
Answer. Solid citizen.
But what is the relevance of stoned.
My only idea is about french citizens stoned in revolution but that seems unlikely. Any idea out there, there always is.

Could it be a weak pun? If someone has been turned to stone, they would be solid.
Chambers has a def. of 'stone' as 'to turn to stone'.

Yes I think that is probably it thank you. I looked up people turned to stone in mythology but hadn't been looking at stoned in relation to 'solid' as I'd been thinking that was related to respectable.. Many thanks mattrom.
