Whilst I'm confident of the answer, can't see the complete wordplay:

Bob not half cold has affected smile (6)

I have ?I?P?R so answer must be SIMPER.

I assume Bob = S and Simper = affected smile, but that's where I need a nudge!

Imper (sonal) = cold
