Could anyone explain 10a please

Reversal of rec (recreation ground) followed by an anagram (crazy) of superb (without the p)

First three letters are common synonym for playground reversed ('in retrospect'), the rest is an anagram of 'superb' minus 'p' ( quiet), so the definition is 'demonic dog'.

Actually liked that one 10a as I remembered dog. 5d only troubling one. Definitely a bit easy this week!

Rigatoni I knew the dog but to my shame I'd never heard of the author, but got the answer from the wordplay which I agree was very satisfying, then checked with Google & wondered how I had been so ignorant!

Some are difficult to parse 8d for instance?

Found this on the easier side. COD 15D. Struggled with the dog because I had 5d wrong I now have A*E* and completely lost
