Lumen, yes - i worked backwards and found the hockey player later. You need a usual very short crossword word for 'golden', then pluralise it. The 'name' is one letter longer, think of it as the Malones, the Lumens....

A VERY well-known hockey player.

Mathprofrockstar, I'll take your word for that! I'd never heard of him, but then again, I couldn't name a single one.

Still worshiped in Boston, played for the Bruins.
