Well, crossword completed and lots of letters to play with, but theme is eluding me today. Any help anyone?

The theme struck me as being slightly less thematic than usual - not a poet, poem, places, whatever. As you said your grid is full, treat it as a word-search - some hard staring will show you several elements, things, that are connected. Noah, and his method of filling the Ark, should help too.

I completed this puzzle yesterday but it was only this morning, when I came here to see if there'd been any additions to this thread, that I noticed the number of the puzzle. Coincidence? I don't think so.

The deficient wordplays are all numbers.
