The answer is fairly obviously 'pyramids' - but should it not be 'lacking energy' as the e is missing from pyres?

You are making 'E(nergy') into 'Amid'

Bellakemp, I thought it was a clever, crafty clue!

It does improve on reflection Malone, but my heart has learnt to sink when I see Robert Price as the setter. A couple of weeks ago he seemed to relent and I sailed through, but this week, my goodness, he's back on fiendish form.
