So far I've solved about half the clues but only found 2 of the words to be replaced. Very enjoyable though:-)

No sooner do i post than I see the theme, and now they're falling thick and fast. Having lived in the East End for more than half my life I can't believe I didn't see it earlier!!

I nearly asked if you were enjoying this, but thought it might give it away

Are you watching the cricket Grunger? I thought the pitch would do a lot more on the final day - and I think that was probably the plan and why we batted first.

I really enjoyed this too.
I live with a Londoner. I’m still learning some of his slang.

I’m glad I remembered the old crossword saying. If in doubt about a theme, anagram the title. It all fell out very nicely.

I am listening to it and it's very tense. I cant understand why Bess isnt bowling as I think they might struggle against him. I was disappointed Moeen Ali isnt playing as he has a great record at Southampton and Old Trafford.

I think they were right to bat and if England lose, there should be no criticism of Stokes's decision. (There will be though).

I think I've got this all done and dusted except for the parsing of 24d - help appreciated.

Grunger,

No doubt all the post match talk will be about Stuart Broad being dropped but that would be to gloss over another poor batting performance:-(

Hi Jo,

Definitely, if in doubt - anagram:-)

Particularly liked 3d - the way it used a theme word in a subtractive anagram.

Brendan, a word from 5 D would go with the one in 24 D, to give you ... a common crossword word for 'the first letter...' The other five letters are, of course, the apple.
