My answer is the former Hollywood starlet "Miss West" around a 3 letter word for "chance" reversed/about, but I just can't match the answer with "dress" - can anyone enlighten me?

My answer means "provide grub" but why "man shuns"?

I think the definition is 'provide', and the rest is the word play.
