Actually, before I sign off on this, can I just get clarification of the "exceptional locals" in 24a - I initially had this as a misprint (thinking it was 'locale') until I realised I had 1 letter too many and this was the only one I wasn't sure of.

I thought that originally but the suffix -im is a typical Hebrew plural form and locals is being used to define the Sabbath limitations.

It's been a stressful night/morning. the door on my washing machine suddenly burst open and flooded my kitchen! It appears there is a blockage in the communal drain and the water from my sink has been flowing back up and into my washing machine.... until the pressure was too much and the dam burst, as it were:-(

Have found this one a very frustrating puzzle - I always struggle with letter clashes. Thanks to the other thread I see the PDM but simply cannot crack 34 across - and as former motorcyclist this is very irritating. I have TACxIxR

You've got the wrong letters from the clashes front and end, williamseal [CH(inese) inside a 5 letter American state].
