Got there but a bit of help ... but still can’t quite parse 14a which makes me think it’s obvious and I’m just not seeing it. I have the answer (pretty sure) but ... why?

Hi everyone

I had a lovely day out at Rosemoor today and didn't get to start the crossword until 6.00pm. I found it a slow start and there are quite a few I can't parse. But I found the top right hand corner difficult to finish. I then had to break off after dinner for Montalbano. I'm trying to improve my Italian too.

Can I have a hint or two for 5ac and 6d

5ac Plane's nose sparkling white and red in take-off (8) I have S???C?H?
I'm not sure about the C

6d Separate clues about to be cracked by learner (5) I have ??P?T . This time I'm not sure about the P,

Hi Roof,Glad you had a lovely day at Rosemoor, it looks beautiful in the pictures.

5a definition is "take off" (as in 'imitation') - P(lane's) + 4 letter word for a well known "sparkling white" + 3 letter well known "revolutionary/red" - your S should be a P and the CH are the 6th and 7th letters respectively.

6d definition is "separate" - 4 letter synonym for "clues" reversed/about around L(earner) - letter pattern should be ?P??T

Many thanks Brendan

I soon got 5ac and 6d with your hints. Then I had to find new solutions for 10ac and 5d. This in turn led me to review my answer for 9ac, but I've finished now and can go to bed happy.

Rosemoor is really lovely. I do like going there - so many plants I've never heard of. Such beauty. I really recommend it.
