Thanks syzygy & sunray, some cracking thematic prefixes.

I got all except 43a.
I used crossword solver to get it.
Had not heard of it.

Phew, that took a while. Love 13 ac! Some very weird prefixes.
Don't understand any part of 46 ac, but only one prefix fits

Rosalind, for 46, take a two-letter word for 'perform' and follow it with the usual stuff indicated by 'trailers'.

Right, thanks. will remember that. I didn't really see the relevance of most of the italicised clues, but once you had some letters and knew the suffix, didn't matter.

Rosalind, thanks. Yes, some of the italicised clues were done in reverse for me - once I knew the suffix, I re-solved them!

Thanks for the link Syzygy. I enjoyed that and learned a couple of things from it. I wish I had £1 for every time I have heard 13a, 24a,46a and 28d in quizzes.
