i am trendy, yet lamentably awkward? nonsense (3,2,3,3,5,6)

The solution is a phrase that I got because of the checking letters but of which I was unaware.

The definition is 'nonsense'; 'awkward' is an anagram indicator; the first part of the clue gives the letters of the anagram.

As a hint the last two words (5,6) are a girl's name.

I had to 'google' the phrase to confirm I had worked it out correctly.
