Hardest I can remember thought some of the answers seem a bit loose e.g the thread below on smashed/trashed

4a Brenda's more swanky upmarket transport? ?o???h? . Porsche fits and I suppose that she comes from German blood but I would describe Porsches as more sporty than upmarket which I'd associate with Rollers and Bentleys. Is it correct?

6d Party independent leader has no back passage. ??c?i??. If Porsche correct then first letter S

12a Figure at work making a stinking pile . ?o?l?p. Dollop fits being if doll=figure and op =work. That said why is a dollop a stinking pile?

Hi Loubyloo,

4a I think "Brenda" is suggesting the answer is "Posher" as spoken by the Queen - it would sound like Porsche.

12a Chambers gives "dollop" as "A rank patch in field", so "stinking" fits.

Thanks Brendan. That does seem a bit obscure for the Eye -I think most people would think of a dollop being like a load of jam on a spoon. I reckon that even in the Times there would be quite a few "never heard of that definition" comments.
