I've finished this puzzle but I'm bewildered by two of the clues.
20D: Nameless Afghan maybe has penned a recipe for this curry side-order
23D: Judge, VIP, turned up in sub-tropical headgear
Regarding the latter, is judge see and VIP pot?

As you say, the other is SEE(judge)+ POT(VIP) reversed

Thanks, Bullfrog. I had PARATHA but didn't know Pathan. Why is VIP pot? I believe it's slang for "to smoke pot", but is it a noun too? Or is there some other acronym? Or is this another one of those Brit things? I mean, do you call VIPs pots as a matter of course?
