Finished, but a few I don't get.

Looks like 'liberate'.
10a Problem supporter in east restrained by immobilising device (5-6).
Brain-teaser?
24d Extremely low in tree-trunk, harmful beetle (4-6).
Apparently there's such a thing as a boll weevil. I can see the middle 'lw' from 'extremely low' but not the tree trunk.

1 LIBER is Latin for "book", then ETA (Greek character) backwards
10 BRA IN TASER with E included
24 BOLE is the tree trunck, so BOL LW E EVIL (harmful)
