a puzzle I did had the clue "out of gas" and the answer was " one"---I don't get it--can anyone explain it to me?

If the publication had any connection with Australia perhaps it was (OZ)ONE?

The word play is "o" (for zero) and "ne" (for neon), but there seems to be no definition.

@buzzy;

Could it be;

NONE = OuT = def
Wordplay; extraction (OF) from ghost anagram of NEON?

I think I have found the original clue, which in full reads "Run out of gas". In this case, the definition is "run", ie "one" or a single, as in cricket.

BuzzyBee, I see the run/one part - but what about the 'out of gas' part?

Malone - see my first post. "Out of gas" = "zero neon"

Thanks, BuzzyBee. I missed that earlier, I probably wasn't awake enough!
