If anyone else has done this I have a query re 9d 'Pet cups like this may have been mixed for party'. There are very few possibilities and one of them means cups but parsing escapes me.

Also 16a 'An artist orders this facsimile in RA' which depends on 9d. Again I have something that means facsimile or copy but can't parse it with artist or RA unless RA means PDQ!

They're both compound anagrams, granama1 - remove 'in RA' from AN ARTIST and the result is an abbrev for a copy. Then remove 'pet' from THE PARTY, to get 'cups'.

Oh crumbs! Thanks Drxx. I was getting better at spotting compound anagrams but they're obviously still my Achilles heel.

That's Listener, Inquisitor and Azed done. *twiddles thumbs*

Both clues use anagram indicators (orders/mixed) that I'm not too keen on and avoid in my own puzzles.

Incidentally, every Azed puzzle going back to 2005 is available on the Guardian site, and they are all very nicely indexed (identifying 'specials' of different types) at:

http://www.andlit.org.uk/azed/puzzles.php

Also, the excellent Magpie magazine has started to make puzzles from its archive available for free. The first one is here:

Hi Spoffy, yes, I've been working through the Azed archive during each week limbering up for Saturdays. The other useful thing is that fifteensquared has all the solutions with parsing for all the sequence I've been doing so even when stumped, help is at hand.

For anyone seeking variety, there is also the archive of Crossword Centre puzzles, listed at:

http://www.crossword.org.uk/list.html

The index indicates the crosswords for which solutions are available (all puzzles from 2015 onwards, some puzzles pre-2015).
