Stuck with explanation for 24 ac.

Nodules (not X...) (5)

Answer must be TOPHI and I’m sure it has some to do with chi and phi but the link is eluding me.

Hi both, it looks to me as if the ...) implies from X onwards with X taken as representing chi, the Greek Alphabet up to but not including X = to phi (the preceding letter).
