28d Can opener call with advantage (4-4).
It looks like ring-pull, but I can't see how pull can mean advantage.

Pull = advantage is specifically listed in Chambers. It's pull, advantage, influence - have you got any pull in the biscuit factory, to get me a job?

I've just checked Chambers and it gives "advantage" as one of the definitions - as in they have 'influence', 'pull', advantage.

Thanks, also perplexed by this (suspect another definition unknown to me):
44 Mush! - but not moving (6)
No idea on the answer.

STATIC - I could be wrong, but I think it's "mush" as in a command to dogs to start moving - like in the arctic for example where they pull the sleighs.

Interference on a radio can be mush, or static.

Mush is defined as '... rubbish, background noise from a wireless receiver' - hence Static., which also means still, not moving.
