Thanks, Anriard, you're very kind. It's always easier when you've already done a puzzle!

Finished now. I do avail of the “Quick Solve” facility on this site. Is that considered cheating by serious crossword solvers such as yourself?

Anriard, sorry, I initially missed your latest comment.

I have all sorts of self-imposed rules and restrictions when it comes to 'help', help that could be classed as cheating. I try not to use 'quick solve' or similar options for the normal, run of the mill crosswords, such as in the Times, Sunday Times. I feel I should be able to get the answers myself, even if it takes a lot of time and thought. If I'm really grappling with a tough clue in a tough puzzle - say Azed or Mephisto - I'll occasionally resort to a 'word wizard'. If it's a prize puzzle and I've got help - from people on the Forum or from a website - I don't send in an entry.

Malone, thanks again for an informative response. I don’t think I could complete many cryptic crosswords without the help of “Quick Solve” and better solvers like you. I mainly do Times and Sunday Times puzzles but don’t put in for prizes if I have had help. Stay safe!
