Pedants United members will have happy memories of Jigjag's outings. He travelled the length and breadth of the country, with a particular interest in markets (and breakfasts). We haven't heard from him for a while, but a postcard I received yesterday indicates that Jigjag went off in search of pastures new. The postcard is from Paris and is dated 1st February, before the Covid-19 devastation.

'Bong jure, Malone. I've taken myself across the Channel, just for a change of scene. The Seine here is impressive, 777 kilometres long (I don't know what that is in old money.) I've been to many great markets, all with lots of terrific produce. There's no Ivan Apple, but I've made friends with a lovely stallholder, Rene Mackintosh-Rouge. I'm still having good breakfasts, but am restricting myself to only three items - coffee, croissants and jam. Hope all is well with you. Oh rivoire. J'.
