unclued 5 down: I have ?ete?renc?s? but am clueless as far as the answer is concerned. It looks like Peter someone but I have too little knowledge of Dumas's works. A hint or help would very welcome.

Thanks Leon - my printer gave me 4 down and 9 down and missed 5 down ! Now is is clear

After help with 5D I find one clue left unanswered ie 20D.
I suspect an anagram." toon canoe" would fit but I cannot justify this. Is the answer divided 4.5 ? Or should I search on ? Self isolation goes on.

Truron, you've got the word split correct and your second word is correct - but not the first. You haven't given the clue and I can't remember the details - but the answer is shown in Chambers as being 'West Indies' and it's defined as a boisterous dance.

Truron, I've looked up the clue ' Can boat dance....'. The 'can' is a common crossword usage!
