1a Minister takes tea, no milk, no sugar.
I guess one is meant to substitute T for MS in some word but that’s as far as I’ve got!

The minister is holy. It's a usual three letter 'tea' and then a five letter word which could mean 'no milk, no sugar', straight, as it comes....

I had since worked out that the fourth letter is P so, with your help, PLAIN +CHA got me there. (I was completely on the wrong track to begin with.)

9 A. A five-letter word for 'publication', often used in crosswords, and add the usual three-letter word for 'to pass on'. The answer is a material, fabric.
