Oh no, can’t even escape this virus in a crossword. First clue and there it is.

Can anyone please help me with 32d? What you might get from twenty-seven in three? (5)

Thanks Malone - thought it might be (I’ve filled the rest of the grid. But it doesn’t quite make sense to me. If you divided twenty-seven in three, you’d get nine, not ninth. And you wouldn’t get a ninth; you’d get a third?

Ah, KT17, thanks for that - I hadn't noticed! I stuck the answer in on Thursday - I didn't parse it at the time and then got it wrong when I tried to help today.

PS It's definitely what I'd call a clunky clue!

KT17, sorry - I'd thought your 'clonky' was just a typo, so I used the 'real' word. (PS I've since checked Chambers, I wouldn't describe them as interchangeable. This matters not one bit, of course! I'm tackling all sorts of things to ward off social distancingitis, a painless but tiring condition.)
