There looks to be a mistake in 26ac. Substitute AND for IN and it makes sense.

Can’t see where the “Tailor” fits into 12ac.

Tailor has fads (6)

Of course I might have the wrong answer. There seem to be at least two words that fit.

Only starting but agree about 26a.
Thought they might have appended a note about Myops; they must have an as yet unpublished stock?

Thanks, dunderheid. Pleased to see that.

Re 12a, t for tailor and trends for fads, but that doesn't explain rends.

Sad news. With no sport and no Wee Stinker, don't think I will buy the Herald for the foreseeable future.

Thanks all for the explanations about “trends”. Makes perfect sense.

Glad to hear the news about the Wee Stinker living on. I wonder if they’ll have a new name for Myops?

Myops redux perhaps?

I’m sure John would think of something cleverer, and in Latin or Greek. ;-)
