Need help with parsing the following please so explanations as to how you arrived at the answer would be helpful.
A) Backing provided for American holy man (4). Is it sufi? If so, why?
B) The Sound of Music in verse form (7). Is it rondeau? If so, why?
C) Fellow is at home earlier, as work's ending (5) Is it finis? If so, why?
D) Flew thus after take-off? (8). ????A?E? Is it streaked? If so, why?
Sorry about the why, why, why, whys!!!

B sounds like RONDO, a musical form
C F(ellow) IS after IN (at home)

D) streaked as in flying (running) after take off as in taking off clothes

Need help with 8d - Anglophone abroad, boy diving into river, sinking rapidly (12) I have (possibly) ?e?r?n?o?a?e though not sure about all of them!

GRINGO - Mexican term for an English speaker
