Parsing for these would be appreciated:-
29 Across - "What TT competitors get back, or relinquish". DEMIT
26 Across - "Use four-letter word: the "corn" in Cornwall? SWEAR
12 Across - "this would be the making of one". TWELFTHS
(With the last-mentioned clue, I noticed that it was the only clue
without a capital letter at the start, so I don't know if this had any significance? Also, if the answer is "twelfths" why is the clue not referring to a plural solution?

29 Demit, relinquish is Timed,, backwards (get back), which is what happens to TT competitors, in the time trial.

26 SW - South West, Cornwall +Ear, corn,

Hi, rocketman,

29ac: the Tourist Trophy (TT) in the Isle of Man is a time trial, so we have TIMED backwards.

26ac: SW (Cornwall is in the south west) + EAR (of corn).

12ac: put answer in place of “this” to get “12 twelfths would be the making of one”. The need to include the clue number is hinted at by the lower case “t” in “this”.

Many thanks Malone and Wintonian. I had considered "timed" but wondered why the TT was especially referred to, considering all the other sports which involve timing. The other two clues were pushing things to the limit, but I can't argue with the whacky logic of the compiler. I think this compiler does a lot of Jumbos for the Times, because the clues in the jumbos frequently contain computing references as well as this one! Having said that, I find the clues in the Jumbo a lot easier than the smaller grid and enjoy the Jumbo more.

Glad we could help, rocketman. I too enjoy the Jumbo - but it makes the Saturday cryptic, the 'normal' one, seem titchy!

Also glad to help, rocketman. I usually do the normal 15x15 Times Crossword on Saturday morning, and the Listener Crossword in the afternoon, saving the cryptic Jumbo Crossword for the early evening. To make it more challenging, I try to solve as many of the clues as I can in one direction before looking at the clues in the other direction. This week I managed to cold-solve over half of the across clues before looking at the down clues, whereas a few weeks ago I managed only six out of thirty across clues first time round.
