Indeed it was. I had Cartoid instead of Carotid!

Struggling to find "stored information" or "the Lab" in retrieved. Any ideas?

The Lab = the dog, the Labrador, I think, sent to Retrieve, bring back the ball!

I retrieve stuff, information, from my computer every day.

In the entry for 'Retrieve', Chambers dictionary has
...retrieving, the extraction of date from a file (computing)

to find and fetch, as a dog does.


Those seem to indicate the clue is fine, fair.

Could it be a reference to "labrador retriever", which is the full name of the breed of dog?

TMW… I don't think it has to be as specific as that, as the dictionary definition has 'retrieve... dog' anyway, so just 'Lab' works ok for me.

PS It's strange how we can just 'get' some clues, answers, while others don't - I've been puzzled before by things that other solvers find totally straightforward!
