52a: Wed,perhaps, without dread, vacuous PA (5)
The answer is DADDY, but can anyone help me with parsing it? Obviously PA is short for Dad, or Daddy, but I'm stuck on the the rest.

vacuous dread is dd, inside day, of which wed(nesday) is an example, hence "perhaps"

Thanks chrise. In my vocabulary "vacuous" means without intelligence, not without a middle, but there we are. AAAARGH!
