Tony: Okay, I suppose that works. Thanks! I'm finished then- though I still don't get the RIC at the end of 12D. Is that a Brit thing? (There's something called a RIC tax in the US...) I do get LOST in ALE, but I'm assuming that the tail end has something to do with "fine".

Relating to enzymes not found in beer? Fine.
ALLOSTERIC- LOST in ALE, but I don't see how "rich" works.

Thanks, Trevor. I'll perhaps wake up in the night and call out "RIC! I've got it!" and run through the streets like Archimedes, though in rural Massachusetts instead of Syracuse, and probably with my clothes on.

I see that one of the things that RIC is an acronym for is routine infant circumcision. But would we all agree that that's fine?

Why does the setter give 1a as 12 letters? The perennial plant is surely 4-3-5 ??i
