Hte, ahs, e.g. for short (5) -Y-O-

I came up with TYPOS, and I think it's correct . . but can anyone parse it for me??

Hannah - I guess the compiler was hitting the deadline and had too much to drink....

'TYPOS' is correct (today's paper) . . No setter is credited for this paper's cryptics; and some of the clues are shockers . . Till we work out another reason I will blame the weather . . . . . . because I am always reluctant to blame the drink :)

Perhaps for the setter, in a state of post-drinking desperation, it was a case of “hic” et nunc....

Perhaps he is a wannabe spook trying to impress his would-be handlers with a cunningly-disguised anagrammical clue
“TO SPY”...

....Or perhaps he’d woken up on the wrong side of the bed after a particularly bad night at the greyhound races and produced a dog’s breakfast....

On Clue Chain (remember that?) I once wrote this clue
Teh? Hte? Eth? Sieve sailors! (3,7)
