I have completed Doc's latest, but see no connection between the theme words and the title. Any ideas welcome.

Also, am i right in thinking that there are two possibilities for the second (unchecked) letter of 36d?

Peter, think of another word for 'road', each unclued exemplifies the centre/middle of that.

I think that the second letter of 36D must be I. In 19A "along" seems to be a misprint for "among". I can't figure out the wordplay in 25A. I have two possible answers for 40A, but both are plurals, while my answers for all other unclued lights are singular. Does anyone have an answer for 40A which is a singular form, or is it yet another case of sloppy setting by Doc?

In 25A, for "almost", think "nigh".

In 40A the 4th letter is U. My Chambers doesn't give this word as a separate entry but only uses it in the definition of another (very similar) word.

I think 2dn might satisfy the sloppy editing requirement of a Doc puzzle - there's the service t*** - S?RB?? or the dogw*** - C?RN??
I wonder how many more there are?

Drxx, I too spotted that at 2 Down. It was dispiriting in itself, and also made me wonder if there were others. I feel Doc has switched off a bit over the past year!
