Have answer to 14d from anagram of first three words but cannot see connection to sort

How fell fat sort!?
A reference to Humpty Dumpty - a fat sort who fell off the wall.
The ! indicates that it is meant to be an &lit. clue, where the whole clue is the definition. 'Sort' is the anagram indicator for 'how fell fat'.
