Each of these has a misprint in the definition (I've put the correct letter in brackets after the clue) 2 down: Step out of bounds blocking cross for Reds (7) (O) ?TE????
7 down: Exalted Whitehall hype classified by cautious premier suppressed (9) (T) ?E???T???
3 down I think is TARSAL - is it? Ratings almost all referring to MacDonald's crit (U) ? I assume you alter CRIT but what to?
Is the lawgiver a fictional character from the publication?
Any help gratefully recieved!

7 The misprint is in 'hype'.
2 The misprint is in 'Reds'

3 D - correct, the 'u' replaces the 'r', check Chambers.

The lawgiver is a famous author.

Could anyone please help with my last entry?

27a African "discovered" two European countries (6)

I have ABER?A and can't make sense of this clue, though the rest parsed well.

Have I gone wrong somewhere?
