I meant not very sure! 24d is also a rare word from German.

Thanks mattrom! Is there a theme in this puzzle, as said in the clue 9a? Though the answer for 9a is easy, what does he mean in the brackets? I can’t parse that part in the brackets.

I thought the setter was our Brendan! He is usually the first one to crack the puzzle and he is not here. So I assumed!

Sorry Zozozo, I must be quite dense. I still don’t see any pattern, or theme, in the overall across solutions in the puzzle. Can you be more specific? Answer to 9a is, of course, inside the clue after removing the first letters and it is an acrostic.
