22 down: Southern US team has to buy it at the borders (5) I have D?X?E so answer is clearly Dixie (southern US) and the xi could be team, but I am at a loss how to parse the whole clue. Would be grateful for any help. Thanks in advance. Roger

Buy It is an old, rarely-used term for 'die', and you put your team XI inside the Die - Di xi e.

Check Collins and the Oxford Dictionary of English, it's in both of those. It's not in Chambers.
