Morning all! Mostly there but 3d is a real head-scratcher.

'No Scots try crossing an Asian city (6)'.

I have ?AIA?O and am pretty certain of these checking letters. I suppose the def is Asian city but if it is, it's pretty elusive. Are my crosses good? Thank you for any hints!

I’ve finished it, but can’t parse two, with doubts about a further two.

35a - Hospital in Kilmarnock or Balaclava (3). Balaclava is the definition, hospital = H? What else?

46a - Maybe spruce old actor (4). Definition is ‘maybe spruce’, but old actor?

8a - Reckless prince linked with hot spots (4). RAS H is prince linked with hot, so does that mean that both reckless and spots are acting as definitions?

43a - Dissolute bard is imprisoned (4). Dissolute is the definition. I think bard is imprisoned is also a definition, but couldn’t find a good reference. Chambers gives ‘fastly’ as Shakespearean ‘firmly’, but couldn’t see anything better than that.

Thanks in advance!

The old actor is called TREE

FAST can also be a word for dissolute (as in fast & loose)

Ah, OK - Beerbohm Tree, thank you.

I saw FAST = dissolute; it’s the ‘bard is imprisoned’ I couldn’t reference.

H+AT (='in') and a Kilmarnock, similar to a Balaclava, is a close fitting cap.

Thanks, Drxx - I was so sure ‘in Kilmarnock’ would be a reference to a Scottish slang term that I didn’t bother to look it up!

...and you're right about 8a - it's a double definition clue.
