Thanks stevie. I considered that because it makes more sense with the clue but axiom doesn't show as tenet in the thesaurusI'll let you know which fits,

Are you a Liverpool fan. If so,say thank you for United handing them the title on a plate? LOL

"axiom " and "maxim" mean the same thing...…...but I cannot parse either of them in relation to the clue?

I can see the hidden word in the clue that you mentioned ..at least that one makes sense!
