I can't get 5D : One who'll fire athlete changing top. I have _U_N_L Only words I can think of are Tunnel, Funnel, Gunnel (as in runner Sally Gunnel) and I can't clue these out. Doesn't really matter as doesn't give me any letters in other clues, but it's annoying me.

If your 'L' is wrong, 'gunner' (one who fires) and 'runner' (athlete with first letter changed) would fit.

Thanks for that, it makes the answer to 13A "Nutter drops Conservative" row far more feasible, (C)rank
