Thanks to those who entered this week. I admired the creative definitions for a word which doesn't have many straight dictionary entries, particularly SW's 'scoosh". I loved Ginge #13, but don't think I'd ever get it without knowing the word first.
It was difficult to choose between paul #2, BBM2 #5, tatters #6, FJ #9, SW#12, but I'll go with BBM2's

The wordplay was intended to read as a notice about hygiene.

When it is added to the def. the resulting surface is meant to read as an observation.

Or something like that ...
