I was getting interested in making a simple anagram solver app.

The way I understand it is that you type some letters
ifle

and it will display all words that are formed exclusively from those 4 letters
like:
file
life

but others include:
lie

So I'm confused why lie is included in results. Is lie an anagram of ifle, isn't it missing a letter?

My understanding is that both should be real words and using all the letters, each only once. So, I don't think that 'ifle' is a valid starting point (not a real word) and 'lie' doesn't use all letters anyway. I use an excellent site (anagram-solver.net) but its examples are poor because they're just letter strings, not real words.

There is already an anagram solver on this site (see link)

https://www.crosswordsolver.org/anagram-solver/

There are several excellent apps which I use but I cannot name here as advertising is not permitted. You will find them if you search the app.store or simply google

If you enter 'IFLE' into the anagram solver here, you will see three good results

Ryanmile's app has its uses. They use something similar in Countdown where you have to find the longest word you can from 9 letters given, although they keep that hidden and make it look as though the people in dictionary corner have found it.

There is the same show in France (I think) where they are very open about it.

If you enter WTUDNOCNO (which is nonsense) into most anagram solvers, you will see a real word result. If ryanmile has to ask 'what is an anagram' that is not a good start for trying to create an app. !

I am wondering why Ryanmile thinks that "like" is an anagram of "ifle"? See post 1.
I cannot see his would -be app being very successful!

I think like was the end of his sentence hence the colon.

I took it that Ryanmile was using 'like:' in the sense of 'for example', not that it was one of the anagrams.
