Looks like ‘disco’ but I can’t see why.

Also can’t parse:
25d Revolutionary writer is left letters (4)
Looks like ‘mail’.

I did the Mail today in coffee shop and do not have it to hand. Couldn't see why "disco" either, nor why "Revolutionary writer is left letters (4)" = "Mail" (and the one about daughter which I forget.)

It was a very shoddy crossword though!

Aha! "discover" - see I told you twas shoddy!

Writer is = I am, reversed, + L(eft)

"Daughter called about request" which is poss DEMAND ????

D for daughter.
Called is "named".
Reverse them.

Thanx. Request does not exactly = demand but it's the Mail innit!
