7 Reave - to sack, rob etc, and it sounds like (in hearing) reeve, magistrate.

36 Yes, Foreknow - it's in Chambers. Fore is the warning and Wonk is the nerd (to return = reverse it, so Know.).

43 Tangram, pieces needing rearrangement (I think it's a puzzle, I didn't check). Tang = taste = Ram = butter(as in something that butts!) or jam, shove.

53. Yes, Dermatologist.

40 Manicured, with digital enhancement, digits being fingers. Mi is the note, An is the article and Cured = better. M an I Cured.

Am still lacking 48A, 48D and 55A . . . do you need the detail ?

My dear old Mum died last month, nearly 97, but we used to do this xword together, and as you see, she was miles better than I am . . .

Glad I could help, dandhh. My copy of the paper is away with the recycling, so I'd need the clues to help further.

It's lovely that you and your mum got so many years of pleasure from doing this crossword together. I'm sure you'll find that the more puzzles you tackle on your own, the smarter you'll become - you soon pick up the little tricks (and booby traps!) that the setters use.
