Am I alone finding this week's AZED impossibly hard? Usually it's very tough but 'doable'. There are so many clues I can't solve that I have given up. Across include 16,17,24,and 33. Down include 8,9,18,19 and 25.

Hello Farr, I managed it without too much bother, given quite a lot of Chambers-bashing!

Across
16 def = Plunge into trough
17 def = Heavy footed progress
24 def = Musical [term for quite or more properly very]
33 def = think of Number as in more numb

Down
8 def = Circus [as in arena]
9 def = noun derived from adjective used by Prince Charles in his 'carbuncle' quote
18 def = Sweet alcohol
19 def = Wild Hog
33 def = Feature of upper end of glacier

PS I saw your post on AB... Why is Azed poorly thought of amongst crossworders?

I can't see too much wrong with 25d - definition = "Message in flags", wordplay = a synonym for 'when' ("when") reversed ("put up") followed by ("then") a noun meaning 'stopping' ("stopping").

I think you need only to look at the blogs and comments on fifteensquared to see how highly Azed is esteemed by solvers.

@Farr - a very quick skim of 15Squared, as directed by JackNatter, shows mostly very positive comments - maybe you've seen less complementary comments?
