Grateful for the scans and uploads. I can't find Harper's in the libraries near where I now live. "What's your purpose coming over the border?" "Scan the Harper's crossword from the library."
I checked the forum rules and helping people with the crossword clues is explicit in the charter so i continue:
Some of the clues are opaque to me. I entered a few answers only because the crossed squares filled in suggested a likely word, such as 31 Across or 14 Across, but I haven't yet matched them to their Six Letter Word clues. I attempted "reverse-solve" to match the completed entries with the a)-> j) clues and some still escape me.
Three uncrossed letters in the upper right section are blank: on a 12x12 Scrabble board they'd be: K4, K6 and G7. Two possible answers for 8 Down , three for 22 Across.
I'm 98% sure I know the letter for K4.
My request:
mental repunctuation of both of those entries
or,
categories of the clue (e.g. homophone, charade, double meaning)
or
giving the letter that connects them both a number value (e.g. A = 1, Z = 26), presenting the unchecked letters as variable expressions, like K6 = K7 - 8.
Whatever guides me to the 'aha' moment but is not a spoiler, please.
