Well, I've got it all filled in, but there are at least half a dozen where I don't understand the parsing or the definition!

Odd anagram indicator in 8d.

5d Like Britain in decline - capital's revolting (3-4)

I have the answer but can't find the term in Chambers (or anywhere for that matter). There is a term that matches 'Like Britain' perfectly, but the middle two letters of the second word would have to be transposed, and that's as close as I get.

In short, which bit is the definition and how is it parsed?

Please ignore my last post - I'd transposed the middle two letters from the correct answer to the wrong one!

Hi brendan or anyone

I still haven't solved 5d, 16ac, 17d or 23ac

So any hints for them would be gratefully received.

I may have some wrong as like others I can't parse some of my answers. Can anyone confirm my crossers in 17d. I have ??C???I?C. Is the first C correct?
