Part of plant in which stewed meat is tinned (6) The answer is stamen, I think and presumably stewed is an anagram indicater for meat but that leaves me with an extraneous 's' and an 'n'.

Power over Lancashire? That makes me smile. (3,6). The answer is 'say cheese' and the Lancashire obviously refers to the cheese but how is 'say' an acronym for 'power'?

Probably both very obvious but they've been bugging me and would appreciate it somebody put me out of my misery!

Sn is the abbreviation for 'tin', the metal. It's from the table of elements or something like that!

Kitabu, I think Say = power is fine. Chambers gives one definition of 'say' as ' influence in a decision'. And of course, there's the phrase, 'you have the final say'...

I've checked 'Sn' in Chambers - (chemical) symbol: tin (Latin, stannum).

Thanks, Malone, for your fantastically thorough - and prompt! - reply. Yes all of that make sense and I should have guessed that SN was the chemical symbol for tin (not a scientist me!)
